Doug Hayes

Executive Director

After graduating from Messiah College, Doug worked as a counselor and social worker for several years before joining the pastoral team of Covenant Fellowship Church (Glen Mills, PA) in 2001. The following year, he was commissioned by the church to establish Covenant Mercies as a separate non-profit organization. As Executive Director, he travels frequently to Africa and enjoys fostering relationships with our indigenous partners. Doug is passionate about music, gardening, and the ATP men’s tennis tour.  He and his wife, Rachel, live in West Chester, Pennsylvania and have three grown daughters and a growing number of grandchildren.

David Mayinja

Director of International Development

David was born and raised in Uganda before relocating to the United States to earn a Master’s Degree in International Development. Prior to joining the Covenant Mercies team, David worked as a senior accountant for a leading philanthropic research and consulting firm. He joined Covenant Mercies in 2008. David presently manages the Uganda programs, while also implementing and monitoring financial controls and accountability for all the international programs. David resides in the Greater Philadelphia area with his wife Carolyn and their two daughters. He loves reading, cooking, biking, and spending time with his daughters.

Emily Evans

Director of Development

Emily is a graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and worked in non-profit Public Relations before joining the staff of Covenant Mercies in 2019. As Director of Development, Emily oversees donor relations, communications and special events for Covenant Mercies. She lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania with her husband and two teenage children. Outside of work, Emily enjoys playing competitive tennis, cheering on her children in their sporting events, and watching Jeopardy! with her family.
