After graduating from Messiah College, Doug worked as a counselor and social worker for several years before joining the pastoral team of Covenant Fellowship Church (Glen Mills, PA) in 2001. The following year, he was commissioned by the church to establish Covenant Mercies as a separate non-profit organization. As Executive Director, he travels frequently to Africa and enjoys fostering relationships with our indigenous partners. Doug is passionate about music, gardening, and the ATP men’s tennis tour. He and his wife, Rachel, have three daughters and reside in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Director of International Development
David was born and raised in Uganda before relocating to the United States to earn a Master’s Degree in International Development. Prior to joining the Covenant Mercies team, David worked as a senior accountant for a leading philanthropic research and consulting firm. He joined Covenant Mercies in 2008. David presently manages the Uganda programs, while also implementing and monitoring financial controls and accountability for all the international programs. David resides in the Greater Philadelphia area with his wife Carolyn and their two daughters. He loves reading, cooking, biking, and spending time with his daughters.
Director of Development
Joanne Burak is a graduate of Drexel University. Prior to her current position, she worked in Development for a non-profit theatre company in Philadelphia. She joined the Covenant Mercies team in 2015, and oversees donor relations, communications, and special events for the ministry. Joanne resides in Eastern Delaware County, PA with her husband Steve, where they are members of a local church plant. Her favorite things include sharing a meal with friends and family, gardens, reading, coffee shops, board games, and the arts.
