Winfred’s father tragically died from kidney failure, leaving his fatherless children in their mother’s care. Not too soon after his death, Winfred’s mother died from malaria. This left Winfred and her six siblings under the care of their elderly grandmother. Thankfully, Winifred is a healthy girl and she has been able to remain in school. She is currently in the 2nd year of secondary school.
Winifred lives in a village near Kiburara, Uganda. Runyankore and Rukiga are the main languages spoken in this area. Kiburara is also home to Hope Community School, established by Covenant Mercies in 2020.
