Tamrat’s father died of pneumonia a month before Tamrat was born. This left him in the sole care of his mother. She does not have a job and only generates a small amount of income by washing clothes for people. Thankfully, Tamrat is a healthy boy and has been able to begin school in spite of financial challenges. He is currently in first grade.
Tamrat lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.
