Simon’s father was a federal police officer who went to war in Northern Ethiopia and was tragically killed in battle. This left Simon and his brother in the sole care of their mother who only generates a small amount of income by washing clothes for people. Thankfully, Simon is a healthy boy, and he has been able to begin preschool in spite of their financial situation.

Simon lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.
