Shabilah’s father died of anthrax in June 2020, leaving her and three other siblings in the sole care of their mother, who has no source of income and no land for cultivation. Thankfully, Shabilah is a healthy girl and is currently enrolled in second grade in a local primary school.
Shabilah lives in a village near Kiburara, Uganda. Runyankore and Rukiga are the main languages spoken in this area. Kiburara is also home to Hope Community School, established by Covenant Mercies in 2020.
