Lidya suddenly and tragically lost her mother and father at the same time in 2017. She is one of seven children, and they are all in the care of her oldest brother. He loves them and cares for them well, but it is a struggle to provide for even their most basic needs. In spite of these circumstances, Lidya is a healthy, active girl. She is currently in sixth grade at a local primary school.
Lidya lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.
