Both of Monica’s parents were tragically killed in an accident. She is now in the care of her aunt who is also raising children of her own and struggles to care for them all. Thankfully, Monica is a healthy girl and has been able to remain in school. She is currently in fourth grade.
Monica lives in a village near Kiburara, Uganda. Runyankore and Rukiga are the main languages spoken in this area. Kiburara is also home to Hope Community School, established by Covenant Mercies in 2020.
