Alula’s father was a federal police officer who went to war in Northern Ethiopia and was tragically killed in battle. This left Alula and his brother in the sole care of their mother who only generates a small amount of income by washing clothes for people. Thankfully, Alula is a healthy boy, and he has been able to remain in school. He is currently in third grade.
Alula lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.Â
