Frequently Asked Questions
What is the RunFAR Challenge?
——
RunFAR (Run for African Relief) is a great way for anyone to get involved with Covenant Mercies, and help orphaned children rise above poverty. Participants can run, walk or bike throughout the month of October and raise money for Covenant Mercies. The funds raised through RunFAR help provide children in Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Liberia with an education, healthcare, mentorship, and more.
How do I sign up and is there a cost to register?
——
Registration is free! Please click HERE to register, or register with your church’s team leader. After you sign up, we’ll send you an e-mail with participation details and helpful fundraising information. If you would like a RunFAR shirt, all we ask is that you that you raise at least $25 to cover the cost of the shirt with shipping. If you are part of a church team, your shirt will be shipped to your team leader for distribution. Individual participants will receive their shirts at their home address.
How do I fundraise?
——
We encourage you to think broadly about your relational networks. Are there neighbors, family members, classmates, or co-workers who may be interested in supporting the mission of Covenant Mercies? After you register, we will send you a sample fundraising letter and a PDF flier that you can send out to prospective donors. Past participants have also had success creating Facebook fundraisers and reaching friends and family members through social media.
How can my donors send a gift?
——
Online: Visit our donation page. Fill in the donation amount and select “RunFAR” from the Campaign box. Enter the runner’s name in the box that asks: “Is this gift in honor of someone?”
Checks: Checks should be made payable to Covenant Mercies and include the runner’s name and “RunFAR” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to: Covenant Mercies | One Fellowship Drive | Glen Mills, PA 19342
How should I track my miles?
——
Please use one of the following options to download the free Pacer app on your phone. You can download the app anytime, but you won’t be able to officially join the RunFAR Challenge until after September 20. Our org code is: be103340
- Click https://www.mypacer.com/organizations/be103340/invite
- Scan this QR code:
Do I have to use the Pacer app to participate?
——
No, you can still fundraise for the RunFAR Challenge, but only miles tracked in the app will count toward our overall mileage goal. We are not able to add miles tracked outside the app to our goal. You can set up the Pacer app to sync directly with Apple Watch, Fitbit and Garmin devices.
Is this a team competition like previous years?
——
Instead of having churches compete against each other as we’ve done in the past, all RunFAR participants will work together toward common goals. Specifically, we are challenging all RunFAR participants together to meet the following cumulative goals:
- Raise $25,000
- Run, walk or bike a total of 10,000 miles throughout month of October using the free Pacer app
Can I send in a photo?
——
Yes! We love to receive pictures of you in your RunFAR shirt at runfar@covenantmercies.org. We may share your photo on social media or through other communication vehicles to spread the word!
I have more questions. Who can I reach out to?

Please send us an email at runfar@covenantmercies.org or call 610.361.0606, ext. 167.
