Kidus’s father died of unknown causes. This left him in the sole care of his mother who only generates a small amount of income by working as a day laborer and washing clothes for people. Thankfully, Kidus has been able to remain in school and is currently in third grade. He is a healthy boy and he loves school.

Kidus lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.
