Doreen’s father was tragically killed in a car accident in 2021. This left her and her 2 siblings in the sole care of their mother, who does not own a house and struggles to pay rent. Thankfully, Doreen is a healthy girl and she has been able to remain in school in spite of financial challenges. She is currently in 3rd grade at a local primary school.

Doreen lives in a village near Kiburara, Uganda.  Runyankore and Rukiga are the main languages spoken in this area.  Kiburara is also home to Hope Community School, established by Covenant Mercies in 2020.
