Absalat’s father abandoned her mother, leaving her as the sole caretaker of Absalat and her two sisters. Her mother has no source of income and struggles to provide for her family. Thankfully, they are all healthy. Absalat has been able to enroll in preschool and she loves school.

Absalat lives in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is the main language spoken in this area.
